The Bahamas, located in the Atlantic Ocean, is a coral based archipelao filled with 700 island and 2,400 cays, islets and rocks ranging from uninhabitend to luxury resorts and villas.  They are home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and their scuba diving and snorkel sites are world renowned.   Other interesting things to note about these islands:

– The 2 most known islands are the northernmost, Grand Bahama and Paradise Island due to the extravgent Atlantis resort
– The name “Bahamas” comes from the Spanish term “baja mar” which means shallow sea
– The beaufitul torquoise color comes from the white calcium carbonate sand and the color of light which is reflected off the bottom and unabsorbed by the water
– These islands were the landing site of Christoper Columbus
– Its home to the world’s deepest blue hole in the world called Dean’s Blue Hold on Long Island
– There is world-class boating and fishing
– One of the more luxurious islands in the chain is Harbour Island which is home to the famous Pink Sands Beach
